Middy's Ben Fisk has qualified for the Mega Match This final!

A near sell-out field attended this latest Mega Match This qualifier at Cheshire's popular Partridge Lakes fishery. After a month of tremendous weights being produced by the venue's Covey Lakes, this is where anglers wanted to draw. Andy Geldart was firm favourite upon the draw, being completed pulling peg 85 on Covey 4 out of the bag. However, sport was slow to start on the in-form waters, opening up an opportunity for those anglers that had drawn elsewhere on the complex - particularly on Marsh, Spey and Ribbon lakes.

Topping the 118-strong field on the day, and making his way through to the grand final was Ben Fisk. Drawing peg 10 on Marsh, Ben fished across to the far bank at 11m catching carp, F1's and the occasional ide. Later, Ben switched to caster fished up in the water 'down the track' to boost his weight to end the match with 148-06-00 (326lbs).

Speaking after the qualifier event, Ben said "I've achieved a major personal angling ambition today. Every previous visit I've drawn on Covey's, but this time drew peg 10 on Marsh. Had a great day's fishing, catching all sorts and now I'm in the £50k Match This final. I'm buzzing!"

Former Mega Match This finalist Andy Bennett had to settle for runner-up spot finishing just shy of Ben's weight offering 140-10-00 to the scales. Andy was one of the favourites going into the qualifier drawing peg 17 on Ribbon. Third placed Michael Rogerson also enjoyed a great days fishing ending the match with 137-02-00 from peg 4, also on Ribbon. But it was Middy's Ben Fisk that came out on top and he will now compete in the final on Saturday 16th August.

This is Ben's second big match win in fewer than two months, having won the Big Bash charity match on 14th May against 183 anglers.

Everyone at Middy would like to congratulate Ben on this fantastic achievement.
