Another big win for a Middy angler!

Simon Skelton from Leicestershire, who was sponsored by Middy in January, has won the 2012 County Championship.

Here, Simon gives a rundown of the final:

"I started on the method feeder at about 30 turns into open water and had a couple of F1s and a skimmer, but all the time feeding a few 8mm pellets down the edge along the wall of the lake again at about 30 turns.

"After an hour I tried the bomb over the pellet line, but with no joy, so I tried the method over this line. Before I could sink the line, the rod had gone round so kept on it for half an hour and put 4 fish in the net for 30lb.

"I then tried down the edge where I had been pinging 4mm pellets at 16m on the pole. I had a few F1s and 2 carp but it wasn't very forthcoming and it didn't help that people were walking over the bridge and spooking the fish! So I went back on the method along the wall and it kept going round. I didn't look back from there as I was netting fish upto 12lb.

"I used the X-Flex 4G Baggin Feeder Rod (11ft) with 6lb main line and .20mm hooklength to a size 16 KM-2, with XP and corn on the hook. On the pole, I used a 4x12 Carp Grey Series 1 float with .18 main line to .16 hooklength with a size 16 T83-13 hook and used doubled up 6-8 Hi-Viz solid elastic".
